2.8 Million Children in Northeast Need Urgent Education Support

Abdulrahman Haske, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship aspirant, raised alarms about the educational crisis in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, where 2.8 million children are out of school and in need of “education-in-emergencies support.” Speaking at a forum organized by the Adamawa State government for International Youth Day 2026, Haske noted that many schools remain closed, and numerous classrooms have been damaged or destroyed due to ongoing conflict and insecurity. He referenced data from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to underscore the urgency of the situation.

Haske emphasized that the educational crisis impacts employability and economic growth, calling for the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure and greater inclusion of youth in governance. He warned against losing another generation to poverty and insecurity, urging immediate action to address the educational needs of these children.
