Humanitarian Foundation Initiative Targets 111,000 Kids

The Humanitarian Foundation Initiative announced a plan to re-enroll 111,000 out-of-school children in Nigeria by September 2026, coinciding with the start of the 2026/2027 academic session. Comrade Adegoke Yinka, the Director-General of the initiative, stated that this target represents 3,000 children from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Adegoke emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, noting that many children are unable to attend school due to financial constraints faced by their parents. The initiative has consulted with various stakeholders, including indigent parents and religious teachers, to facilitate the enrollment of children, particularly the Almajiris, into conventional schools.

Each beneficiary will receive free school uniforms, sandals, bags, exercise books, pens, and other essential learning materials. This program is part of the Humanitarian Foundation Initiative for Less Privileged's broader efforts to address the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
