28 House Members Defect Ahead of Party Primaries

In a significant political shift, 28 members of the Nigerian House of Representatives have defected to different political parties ahead of the party primaries. The defections span across various political affiliations, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), People's Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and smaller parties.

Notable defections include Philip Agbe from APC to PDP, Akanni Clement and Ademola Boluwaduro from LP to PDP, and Ugochinyer Ikeagwuonu from PDP to Action People's Party (APP). Other members, such as Georg Ozodinobi, have moved from LP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The defections are attributed to internal crises within the respective political parties. The states affected include Benue, Osun, Imo, Lagos, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kano, Taraba, and Kebbi, indicating a widespread political realignment as the primaries approach.
