Twelve House Members Defect to APC and ADC

On Thursday, twelve members of the House of Representatives announced their defection to new political parties, marking a significant shift in the political landscape. The Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu, disclosed this development during a plenary session.

Among the defectors, six members transitioned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while five members left the Labour Party (LP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Additionally, one member moved from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the ADC.

The defectors include notable figures such as Jame Barka from Adamawa, Afam Victor Ogen from Anambra, and Murphi Osaro Omoruyi from Edo. Kalu mentioned that a letter indicating the members' intent to change parties was submitted, although it was not read due to the absence of some lawmakers during the session.
