296 FCT Artisans Set for Global Certification in 2026

A total of 296 artisans from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are preparing for global certification under the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) SUPA programme, with examinations scheduled for May 18-19, 2026. This initiative is part of the federal government's efforts to strengthen the skills of Nigerian artisans, making them competitive in the global labor market.

The certification process, supervised by Alberk QA Technic, will assess candidates in 20 vocational and technical trades, including fashion design, welding, cybersecurity, and carpentry. Dr.

Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, the Director General of ITF, stated that this exercise represents a significant step in preparing Nigerian artisans for international recognition, which can enhance their employment opportunities and economic mobility. The ITF has previously conducted mock certification examinations to prepare participants for this international certification process.

The initiative aims to transform the perception of artisanship in Nigeria and contribute meaningfully to the nation's economic development.
