Three Dead in Ogun State Building Collapse Incident

A tragic building collapse occurred on Monday afternoon in Ajuwon, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, claiming three lives and resulting in the rescue of 12 occupants. The two-storey building on Baale Road collapsed following a heavy downpour.

In response, the Lagos State Government deployed emergency responders and heavy rescue equipment to assist with recovery operations after a request from the Ogun State Government. Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the deployment aimed at enhancing inter-state emergency response.

Governor Dapo Abiodun has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the collapse, warning that anyone violating building regulations will face prosecution. Preliminary findings indicated a catastrophic structural failure, with lower floors sinking into the ground.

Eyewitnesses reported the incident occurred around 3 PM, shortly after intense rainfall and thunderstorms, with some occupants escaping just before the collapse.
