Nigeria's Athletes Shine at 2026 Commonwealth Games

On Wednesday at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Team Nigeria showcased strong performances in athletics. Jennifer Obi Chukwuka won Heat Four of the women's 200 metres with a personal best of 23.26 seconds, securing automatic qualification for the semi-finals.

Olayinka Olajide also advanced by finishing third in Heat Five with a time of 23.62 seconds. In the men's 200 metres, debutant Udodi Onwuzurike qualified for the semi-finals with a time of 20.31 seconds.

Additionally, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi qualified for the men's shot put final by throwing 20.03 metres, finishing first in his group. These achievements followed Nigeria's earlier bronze medals won by Temitope Adeshina in the women's high jump and Kanyinsola Ajayi in the men's 100 metres, contributing to a positive momentum for Nigeria's athletics campaign.
