32 Teams Compete in Obafemi Awolowo Memorial Youth Football Tournament in Lagos

In Lagos, 32 youth football teams are set to participate in the 12th edition of the Obafemi and HID Awolowo Memorial Youth Football Tournament. The event, organized by children, will kick off at the Lekki Playground in Lagos and will include 16 teams in the U-10 boys and U-17 girls categories.

Teams from the South West Nigeria region are expected to engage in keen competition for the top prize. The tournament is supported by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation and sponsored by Value Jet Airline.

The competition aims to immortalize the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and mark his 117th posthumous birthday. Notable teams in the tournament include Young Boys FA and Babe FA from Ota, Ogun State, in the boys' category, and Queen FC from Ibadan and Mari Queen FC from Lagos in the girls' category.

Match coordinator Mr. Aliu Ganiu has ensured necessary arrangements are in place for the success of the tournament, emphasizing the importance of abiding by the rules.

The Obafemi Awolowo Foundation's support has been instrumental in the competition's inception, with promises of better organization in future editions.
