Lagos Street Soccer Tournament Offers N5m Prize

The Lagos State Government launched the second season of the Lagos Street Soccer Stars Oshodi tournament on Sunday, August 2, 2026, featuring thirty-two teams competing for a N5m prize package. The tournament, themed “Oshodi Hidden Talents,” aims to discover and promote grassroots football talent while steering youth away from drug abuse.

It is organized by Adebanji Atewogboye, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Sports, in collaboration with First Bank Nigeria Plc and Sporty Lagos Naija Limited. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration supports this initiative to enhance grassroots sports development across the state's fifty-seven local government areas.

The Chief Superintendent of Narcotics at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Lagos Strategic Command, Ayenigbara Samuel, addressed participants about the dangers of substance abuse. The tournament will run until August 15, 2026, with opening matches resulting in victories for Dosunmu Street, Popoola Street, and Olorunishola Street.
