Sheu Close Wins FirstBank Lagos Street Soccer Tournament

The FirstBank Lagos State Street Soccer tournament concluded on Saturday in Oshodi, with Sheu Close emerging as champions of the three-a-side competition, winning N1 million. The tournament, which began on August 2, featured 64 teams and 640 players.

It was powered by Adebanji Atewogboye, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroots Sport Development, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu serving as Chief Host. The final match showcased two first-half goals from Sheu Close, securing their victory and the largest share of the N3.5 million prize pool.

Oremeji Street finished third, defeating Salawu Street 6-1 and receiving N500,000. The runners-up were awarded N750,000.

The competition, sponsored by FirstBank under its First@Sports programme, aims to support youth and community development through sports. Atewogboye emphasized the tournament's role in keeping youths engaged during the holiday, while Olayinka Ijabiyi of FirstBank highlighted the bank's commitment to grassroots sports and community development.
