33 of 65 Nigerian Ambassadorial Nominees Secure Agrément

The Nigerian government has announced that 33 out of 65 ambassadorial nominees from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration have received agrément from host countries. This confirmation was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which stated that the induction program for these newly appointed ambassadors commenced on Monday and is set to conclude today, Wednesday.

The Ministry had previously disclosed that 25 ambassadorial nominees secured agrément as of April 17. The process of granting formal consent involves host countries conducting due diligence on the nominated diplomats.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of these ambassadors in projecting a positive image of Nigeria and navigating the complexities of global realities. The appointment of these ambassadors comes after a delay, as Tinubu assumed office in 2023, leaving several diplomatic posts vacant.
