Nigeria Strengthens Trade Ties with W/African Nations for AfCFTA Growth

Nigeria is strengthening ties with West African nations to boost trade performance under the $3.4 trillion AfCFTA agreement. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has signed the ECOWAS Tariff Offer, emphasizing regional trade expansion.

The NCS is focusing on promoting Regional Value Chains and operationalizing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to enhance trade facilitation. Comptroller Wale Adenuga of the Seme Area Command highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment for trade to thrive.

The NCS plans to deploy digital solutions to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and enhance Nigeria's competitiveness in international trade. Collaboration with regional organizations like ECOWAS is expected to harmonize trade processes and strengthen partnerships for increased trade volume and reduced transit time.
