3,550 Nigerians Killed in Six Months, Intersociety Reports

Intersociety's latest report, released on Thursday, reveals that 3,550 Nigerians were killed in the first half of 2026, with 2,550 Christians and 1,050 Muslims among the victims. The report, led by Emeka Umeagbalasi, indicates that 2,800 Christians were abducted during this period, averaging 120 attacks per month.

The data shows that 420 Christians were killed monthly, translating to approximately 14 daily. The report attributes the highest death tolls to jihadist groups, including Boko Haram and Fulani ethnic militias, with significant casualties reported in Plateau and Borno states.

In addition, the report claims that 800 Christian women and children were forcibly converted to Islam. Intersociety criticized the Nigerian government's failure to effectively address these violent incidents, suggesting a lack of willingness or ability to act.

The report also notes that 850 Muslim civilians were targeted by jihadists during the same period.
