Ondo State's 396,671 Households Benefit from Cash Transfer

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State announced that 396,671 households in the state have benefited from the Federal Government's cash transfer program, part of the Household Prosperity Empowerment Program. This disclosure was made during a visit from Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Reduction.

The program is a component of a broader social investment scheme, with Ondo State receiving N9.9 billion across three tranches aimed at the poorest households. Each eligible household receives a total of N75,000, distributed in three tranches of N25,000.

Despite the program's extensive reach, Doro expressed concerns about low awareness among beneficiaries and emphasized the need for improved communication and transparency. The initiative aims to strengthen social protection frameworks and ensure accurate data for effective targeting of assistance.

The cash transfer program is part of President Bola Tinubu's administration's efforts to support vulnerable households across Nigeria.
