Osun Communities Demand Action on Power Supply Crisis

Forty communities in Osun State, represented by their leaders, held a press conference to express their frustration over the ongoing issues with power supply from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). The community leaders, including Sulaiman Ismail, Atoyebi Akeem Coker, Alhaji Badmu Akeem Gbolagad, and Alhaji Adebayo Akeem Oladepo, noted that they had issued a seven-day ultimatum to IBEDC to address the worsening electricity situation.

They highlighted that the communities have been receiving less than nine hours of electricity over the past week, which is far below the expected minimum supply. The leaders emphasized the critical need for uninterrupted power to support local institutions, including the Nigerian Air Force Research Institute and Osun State University, as well as small-scale businesses that rely on electricity for their operations.

They also condemned IBEDC's attempts to misrepresent their peaceful protests as violent and called for fair and transparent electricity distribution in the Osogbo metropolis.
