Sheikh Dasuki Named New Chief Imam of Ilorin

Sheikh Dasuki, a 42-year-old religious leader, has been appointed as the Chief Imam of Ilorin. This appointment comes five months after the death of the previous Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, also known as Bashir Fulani, who died on January 19, 2026, at the age of 75.

Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu had spent four decades in religious leadership. His funeral prayer took place on January 20, 2026, at the Emir's palace in Ilorin.
