Bayelsa Prepares for 4th Governor Diri Wrestling Classic

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, announced that the state is prepared to host the 4th Governor Diri National Wrestling Classic, scheduled from March 25 to April 1, 2026, in Yenagoa. Igali expressed confidence in the organization of the tournament, highlighting the role of technical sessions aimed at updating referees and athletes on the latest rules in wrestling.

These sessions are crucial for ensuring that participants are well-informed and can perform effectively during the competition. Igali noted that representatives from various states, military, paramilitary institutions, and wrestling clubs will gather to enhance their understanding of the sport.

He also mentioned that 30 referees are set to officiate the tournament, which is expected to build on the legacy of the 2025 championship. Igali conveyed excitement for the upcoming event, emphasizing the importance of delivering a high-quality wrestling experience.
