CAF Team Inspects Facilities for Nigeria's Major Events

A five-man team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived in Abuja on Thursday for an initial inspection of facilities that Nigeria is proposing to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly and the annual CAF Awards ceremony. This decision was approved by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR two months ago at the Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a request from CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

The inspection team, led by Dr. Christian Emeruwa, CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, includes members Mohammed Bakeer (Technology), Inas Ahmed (Travel & Accommodation), Salah Mostafa (Transport), and Hervé Dassoundo (Branding). The team inspected the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Friday and plans to visit the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre and Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Saturday.

The CAF Congress is the largest non-competition event of CAF, and Nigeria has previously hosted it in 1980 and 2009. The team will also inspect facilities in Lagos, including the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, on Sunday.
