Lagos Prepares for 2026 CAF Awards Inspection Success

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in the state's readiness to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards following an inspection by a CAF delegation at the National Theatre. The inspection, which took place on a Monday, was part of CAF's evaluation of venues for two major events in Nigeria: the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.

The five-member delegation, led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Christian Emeruwa, included members overseeing technology, travel, accommodation, transportation, and branding. Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that Lagos is committed to delivering a world-class event, with preparations already underway to meet CAF's expectations.

If confirmed, this will be the first time Lagos hosts the CAF Awards since January 2015. The awards will celebrate outstanding African footballers and personalities, while Abuja is set to host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on November 21, 2026.
