CAF Delegation Inspects Nigeria for General Assembly, Awards

A five-member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has initiated a comprehensive inspection of facilities in Nigeria as part of the country's bid to host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the CAF Awards. The delegation arrived in Abuja on Thursday to evaluate venues, accommodation, transport systems, security arrangements, and other necessary infrastructure.

This inspection is a significant step in Nigeria's efforts to secure hosting rights for these prestigious events, following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after a request from CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during the Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, two months prior. The inspection team is led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa, with members overseeing various aspects including technology, travel, accommodation, transport, and branding.

The inspection began with the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and will continue to venues in Lagos, including the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts and EKO Hotel & Suites.
