Bandits Attack Security Post in Oyo State, No Casualties

On Sunday, suspected bandits attacked a security post located within a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area, Oyo State. The attack occurred in the early hours between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Reports indicate that the gunmen arrived in large numbers, opened fire on the security personnel, and shot sporadically into the air. They set fire to a block within the security base and a patrol van, destroying both.

Additionally, the bandits reportedly stole items including a generator and a motorcycle from the security post. Mr. Kazeem Olayanju, the Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, confirmed the incident, stating that there were no casualties.

He noted, “The information is true. But there is no casualty.

They burnt the security post we constructed for them. They also set ablaze an abandoned vehicle there.

They also carted away their generator and motorcycle. It occurred today around 5am and 6am.”.
