Six Bandits Killed in Zamfara Security Operation

On June 9, 2026, a significant security operation in Zamfara resulted in the death of six bandits who attempted to attack a community. According to Police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar, the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons including RPGs, GPMG, anti-aircraft guns, and AK-47 rifles, launched their assault.

The police received a distress call and quickly deployed a combined team comprising tactical operatives from the Maru Division and military personnel attached to the Fansan Yamma operation. The security team engaged the assailants in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat and successfully preventing the attack.

Six bandits riding two motorcycles were neutralized during the operation, while several others fled into a nearby forest, likely suffering gunshot wounds. No casualties were reported among the security personnel or residents.

The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information.
