Six Dead in Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Crash

On Tuesday, a severe road traffic crash occurred at approximately 08:00 hours near the Old Toll Gate in Ota, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to two others. The crash involved an articulated vehicle with registration number EKI 913 YH and a tanker carrying vegetable oil.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the articulated vehicle suffered mechanical brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and ram into bystanders. Afolabi Odunsi Oyewol, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement sent to journalists.

The deceased included five males and one female, while the injured were promptly evacuated by the FRSC rescue team to the Ifo General Hospital for medical treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital's morgue.
