PDP Faction Heads to Supreme Court Before Convention

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki is preparing to appeal to the Supreme Court following a recent appellate court ruling that favored a rival faction. This legal action is being taken just 72 hours before a scheduled convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025.

The decision to appeal was confirmed by Ini Ememobong, the party's spokesperson, during a press briefing after the party's 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. The NEC meeting included notable party members such as Adolphu Wabara, Babangida Aliyu, and Ibrahim Shekarau.

The appellate court had previously dismissed arguments from Turaki's faction regarding the conduct of the convention, stating that the issues were internal party matters. The Turaki-led faction is exploring reconciliation efforts while simultaneously preparing for the legal battle, indicating a willingness to negotiate terms that could lead to a truce.
