Shettima Leads Nigeria's Delegation at 81st UNGA

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York, United States, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Shettima stated that Nigeria's participation will be guided by national interest, commitment to multilateralism, and President Tinubu’s advocacy for reforming global institutions to reflect current economic and demographic realities.

He emphasized that Nigeria believes in multilateralism but insists that global institutions must be more representative and equitable. Shettima, accompanied by Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and other senior officials, will deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the General Debate, addressing key international issues affecting peace, security, and development.

He will also engage in high-level meetings and bilateral discussions with world leaders and organizations, focusing on international financial architecture reform, sustainable development, climate finance, and stronger African representation in global decision-making.
