Nine Killed in Attack on Benue Community, Governor Responds

On Saturday, a violent attack occurred in a Benue community, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to several others. The incident took place between 5 PM and 6 PM, as confirmed by Timothy Adi, the chairman of Gwer East Local Government Area.

The Nigerian Police Force has been deployed to the area to restore calm. Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the attack, labeling it a barbaric and unacceptable act that directly threatens peace and security in the state.

In a statement, his spokesman, Tersoo Kula, expressed condolences to the families affected and highlighted the need for a robust response to such acts of terror. Governor Alia emphasized the administration's commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring that all necessary measures would be taken to enhance security and intelligence gathering.

He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while supporting security agencies with credible information.
