Nine Killed in Fresh Attack in Benue State Community

A recent attack in Edikwu, Apa Local Government Area, Benue State, resulted in the deaths of at least nine individuals, primarily breadwinners, leaving their families devastated. The victims included 31-year-old Elaigwu Pelu, a father of four; 62-year-old Oigen Ogah, a family patriarch with 15 children; and 78-year-old Adah Aboj, who raised 35 children.

Other victims were Peter Omafu (59, father of 13), John Peter Musa (33, father of two), Ogagwu John (31, father of three), Eluma Ogbeni (30, father of four), John Elegbo (39, father of five), and Gideon Mondai (29). The attack, which occurred in Mbatsaida, left several households without primary providers.

The local community, represented by village head Gbakaa Lorpin, expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence, which has persisted since 2014, and criticized authorities for ignoring repeated warnings about the crisis.
