Nine Victims Escape Abductors in Katsina Forest Rescue

On July 9, 2026, nine victims, comprising three women, four men, and two children, escaped from their abductors in a forest in Katsina State. This incident was disclosed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, who stated that the victims were rescued during a patrol by troops from the Joint Task Force in the Faskari Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims managed to escape while the terrorists guarding them fell asleep. The rescued individuals are currently safe and undergoing necessary procedures to reunite with their families.

Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Danja reported that during a separate operation in Bakori Local Government Area, troops encountered terrorists who opened fire but were overpowered. The troops recovered 56 rustled animals, including four cattle and 52 sheep, which are now under military custody.

Suspects were arrested during routine operations in Danmusa Local Government Area, and investigations are ongoing to establish links to terrorist activities.
