Cooperative Education Vital for Nigeria's Economic Growth

At the Cooperative Education for Sustainable Economic Development Summit held in Kaduna, Sen. Dr.

Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, underscored the role of cooperative education in building a competitive and inclusive cooperative sector. He presented the Cooperative Reform and Revamp Programme (CRRP) 2025-2030, which includes seven strategic pillars aimed at enhancing cooperative education and human capital development.

The pillars focus on equipping cooperative leaders and members with skills to manage enterprises effectively, embrace innovation, and strengthen accountability in the digital economy. Abdullahi announced three flagship initiatives: the establishment of a national cooperative digital architecture platform, the creation of a cooperative bank in Nigeria, and a review of the Nigerian Cooperative Societies Act to modernize the regulatory framework.

He called for stakeholder engagement and participation in the CRRP to address challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and food insecurity.
