Akwa Ibom Governor Honors Late Rev. Uma Ukpai's Legacy

On October 6, 2025, a tribute ceremony was held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to honor the late Rev. Uma Ukpai, who passed away at the age of 80.

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno described Ukpai as a "gift to humanity" and a moral leader whose influence extended globally. Eno highlighted Ukpai's role as a mentor and spiritual leader, noting his contributions to the advancement of the poor and downtrodden.

The governor expressed gratitude for Ukpai's dedication to propagating the gospel and his impact over six decades. Eno also acknowledged the late cleric's support for the administration's agenda and assured his family of the state's commitment to advancing Ukpai's dreams.

Other notable figures, including Dr. Emmanuel Kure and Bishop Francis Wale Oke, paid tribute to Ukpai's legacy, emphasizing his role as a spiritual intercessor and mentor.

Chief Asam Asam, a former ambassador to Russia, described Ukpai as a man of truth and honor, whose mentorship significantly developed human capital in the state.
