Sanusi II Advocates Education's Role in Leadership at Eid

During the Eid el-Fitr celebrations held in Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, highlighted the critical role of education in enhancing leadership capabilities and societal respect. His remarks were made during the Hawan Nasarawa durbar at the Kano Government House.

Sanusi II's emphasis on education came amid ongoing discussions about the balance between traditional leadership and modern educational values within the emirate system. The celebrations featured three separate Eid prayers across the city, indicating a significant departure from the traditional unified prayer event, which has been a hallmark of the community.

Sanusi II led the prayer at Kofar Mata Eid ground, attended by notable government officials, including Governor Abba Yusuf and the State Secretary, Umar Faruq. Meanwhile, the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, conducted a separate prayer at Nasarawa Palace.

This division reflects the lingering crisis within the Kano emirate, which began with Sanusi II's dethronement in 2020 and was further complicated by political developments leading to the reinstatement discussions in 2024.
