Sanusi II Urges Dignity Over Humiliation for Power

Muhammadu Sanusi II, who served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria from 2009 to 2014 and was the 16th Emir of Kano, delivered a significant address during the Fola Adeola Annual Ramadan Lecture. He cautioned against the humiliation that individuals often subject themselves to in their pursuit of power, urging people to maintain their dignity and faith in God.

Sanusi reflected on his own life experiences, including his suspension as CBN Governor and subsequent removal as Emir of Kano in 2020 by former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and his reinstatement in 2024 by current Governor Abba Yusuf. He emphasized that circumstances can change and that individuals should not attribute their fortunes solely to human actions but rather recognize divine intervention.

Sanusi encouraged attendees to remain steadfast in their principles and to view setbacks not as the end but as opportunities for growth and academic pursuits.
