Police Arrest 33 Terror Suspects, Recover Weapons in Nigeria

On Monday, during a press briefing at the IRT headquarters in Abuja, DCP Anthony Placid announced the arrest of 33 suspects connected to a criminal network involved in terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery. This operation, coordinated across Kwara and Kogi states, was prompted by a violent attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, on November 20, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of at least three worshippers and the kidnapping of 38 individuals, including the pastor.

The suspects were apprehended following credible human intelligence and investigations into the attack. The police recovered an anti-aircraft launcher, seven AK-47 rifles, and additional high-grade weapons.

The suspects face charges including culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, and conspiracy. The police continue to investigate and pursue fleeing gang members, with the operation highlighting ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks across Nigeria.
