ABA Launches Grassroots Basketball Clinic in Taraba

The Amateur Basketball Academies (ABA), under the leadership of President Aliyu Lucky Abubakar, who is also the Deputy Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, will hold a grassroots basketball coaching clinic in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Saturday. This event is part of a nationwide initiative to develop basketball at the grassroots level.

The Jalingo clinic, titled “Drive,” follows a successful clinic in Makurdi, Benue State, where 11 coaches from eight academies participated. This clinic will be the fourth in a series that began in June in Abuja and continued in Minna, Niger State.

The initiative, in collaboration with the Taraba State Basketball Association, aims to strengthen grassroots basketball development, identify emerging talents, and provide coaches with updated knowledge on basketball rules and coaching techniques. Aliyu Abubakar emphasized the importance of grassroots development for the future of Nigerian basketball.

Following the Jalingo clinic, the ABA coaching team will proceed to Gombe for further training.
