Abacha's Son Loses PDP Governorship Ticket in Kano

Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, son of the late General Sani Abacha, lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Kano. He garnered 749 votes in the primary election.

The results were announced by Umar Danjani Hadejia, the chairman of the PDP governorship primary election committee. Danjani Hadejia emerged victorious and will be the party's flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election in Kano.

This outcome is significant as Kano has a large voting population and a history of political competition, with the PDP previously controlling the state in the early 2000s but struggling to regain dominance in recent years against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
