AbdulRazaq, Mustapha Clash Over Kwara Flyover Credit

The construction of the Oko-Olowo flyover in Ilorin, Kwara State, has led to a dispute between Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Senator Saliu Mustapha regarding who is responsible for facilitating the project. Senator Mustapha stated that his intervention in the Senate and discussions with Federal Government officials were crucial for the project's commencement.

He highlighted that he raised the issue on the Senate floor and lobbied the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, to include the project in the Federal Government's infrastructure program. Mustapha acknowledged contributions from various stakeholders, including President Bola Tinubu.

In contrast, AbdulRazaq claimed that his administration has been advocating for the flyover since 2019 and renewed efforts in 2023. He mentioned a visit to Umahi in 2024 with other officials to push for the project.

The political rivalry between the governor and the senator has intensified as they vie for influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
