Kwara Governor Welcomes New Army Battalion Deployment

On Tuesday, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq met with senior Nigerian Army commanders regarding the deployment of a new battalion to Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area. He received the troops alongside Major General Yakubu Yahaya, General Officer Commanding 9 Division, Nigerian Army, and Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin.

AbdulRazaq stated that this deployment aims to strengthen security operations in the state amid rising concerns over banditry and kidnapping. He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.

Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for the swift deployment and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving additional military deployments, which he believes will enhance security efforts.

The governor also mentioned preparations for another battalion to be deployed to the Patigi area, further expanding the Army's operational presence in Kwara to protect residents from security threats.
