Abia APC Names Henri Ikoh as Consensus Governorship Candidate

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially adopted Henri Ikoh, a former Minister of State for Science and Technology, as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election. This decision was reached after a closed-door consultation involving key party leaders and members of the state working committee.

The resolution was signed by 13 out of 18 members of the committee, including Chief Chidi Avaja, Deputy Chairman Benedict Godson, and State Organizing Secretary Emeka Okorafor. The committee endorsed Ikoh based on his leadership credentials and political experience, asserting that he possesses the qualities necessary to drive the state forward.

The adoption is seen as a major political breakthrough for the APC in Abia State, aiming to present a credible and widely accepted candidate in the upcoming elections. The primary elections are scheduled for May 21, 2026.

Additionally, Uzor Kalu's withdrawal from the race has left Ikoh as the sole candidate, which the committee views as a strategic move to unify the party.
