Abia State Converts Hotel to Affordable Housing Layouts

The Abia State Government, led by Governor Alex Otti, has initiated a housing project by converting the former state hotel and the civil service commission office located in Umuahia into housing layouts. This decision was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Okei Kanu, following a week’s executive council meeting.

The project aims to provide functional and affordable housing for the residents of Abia State. The former civil service commission office and the Abia hotel, situated on Finbar Road, have been cleared for this purpose.

The state government plans to allocate the cleared parcel to contractors within a fortnight to expedite the housing project. Additionally, the administration has dismissed claims regarding the admission of children from poor homes into a smart school in Ubakala, emphasizing its commitment to addressing housing challenges faced by citizens.
