Abia Governor Otti to Demolish Buildings Used for Kidnapping

Abia State Governor Alex Otti declared on Thursday that any uncompleted buildings found to be harboring kidnappers or criminals would be demolished. This statement was made during his monthly media chat, where he highlighted the importance of surveillance on uncompleted structures and forests to prevent them from being used as hideouts by criminals.

Otti asserted that no area in the state, including forests, would be permitted to serve as a base for criminal activities. He expressed his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and stated that any criminal who escapes from Abia would be pursued and returned for prosecution.

Additionally, Otti addressed the issue of minimum wage increases for civil servants, indicating that while he would have considered it, competing needs from other sectors made it unfeasible at this time. He also promised to investigate the ongoing road issues in the Amaiyi Okpo community in Arochukwu LGA, despite contracts awarded for road improvements.
