Abia Govt To Curb Building Collapse

The Abia State government has taken steps to prevent building collapses following recent incidents in Umuahia and Aba. The information commissioner, Okey Kanu, described the Umuahia collapse as unfortunate, with no fatalities.

An uncompleted building in Umuahia collapsed, prompting the government to conduct thorough investigations to determine the cause. The police have arrested the site engineer for questioning.

The general manager of the Umuahia Capital Development Authority, Kingsley Agomuo, announced that integrity tests would be conducted on all buildings with two floors to prevent future collapses. The government has a zero-tolerance policy for professional misconduct and is committed to protecting the lives of its citizens.
