Abia Governor Otti Commits 20% Budget to Education

On Wednesday, Abia State Governor Alex Otti reaffirmed the state's commitment to educational reform, stating that 20% of the state's annual budget has been allocated to the education sector for three consecutive years. This commitment aims to enhance educational outcomes and ensure that no one remains uneducated.

During a meeting with Odo Nweke, the Enugu State chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Otti expressed satisfaction with the positive results from investments in education, including improved school enrollment and student performance. He noted that the state has recruited 5,394 teachers and is in the process of recruiting an additional 4,000 teachers.

Otti also mentioned the regular payment of teachers' salaries and the resolution of 17 months of salary arrears from previous administrations. The governor emphasized the need for better school infrastructure and teacher remuneration, assuring continued support for educational initiatives in Abia State.
