Abia State Governor Otti Reports Surge in School Enrollment to Over 300,000

Abia State Governor Alex Otti revealed a remarkable surge in school enrollment from 117,000 to over 300,000 within a year during his monthly media briefing in Umuahia. The increase was attributed to confidence in public education following administrative reforms.

Governor Otti emphasized the recruitment of 4,000 additional teachers to support the growing enrollment. Ongoing reconstruction and renovation work in educational institutions like Abia State University and Abia State College of Education were noted.

Additionally, infrastructure projects including the Omenuko Bridge and road reconstructions were near completion. The governor also highlighted initiatives such as a partnership for digital registration of hotels and hospitals.

A pilot biogas project at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture and efforts to enhance healthcare services through primary healthcare centers and new hospital contracts were mentioned.
