Abia Lawmaker Mandela Obasi Joins Labour Party from PDP

Mandela Obasi, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Ohafia North State Constituency, has officially left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Labour Party (LP). He announced his decision during a meeting with Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, highlighting the visible development work undertaken by Otti across the state.

Obasi, a three-term member of the assembly, expressed dissatisfaction with the PDP's internal crises and lack of clear leadership, stating that the party has become disarrayed. He emphasized the importance of aligning with the Labour Party to better serve his constituents and support ongoing development projects, including the Uzuakoli-Akara-Ohafia road.

Obasi's defection marks a significant political shift as he becomes one of the last standing PDP lawmakers in the assembly, indicating a potential shift in political dynamics within Abia State.
