Otti Commits to Renewable Energy Partnership in Abia

Abia State Governor Otti has expressed a strong commitment to collaborate with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to accelerate renewable energy projects in the state. During a meeting at Government House in Umuahia with a delegation from the REA, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV), Otti recognized that Abia's current progress in renewable energy deployment is insufficient given its potential.

He promised to address operational delays and activate existing agreements with the REA, stating that significant developments would occur within the next 14 days. Otti also mentioned the state's initiatives in rolling out electric buses, which have shown positive results for green energy.

Dr Abba Aliyu, Managing Director and CEO of the REA, indicated that the agency is prepared to support Abia once the state demonstrates a commitment to the projects, despite previous delays in a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year. The meeting included Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Principal Secretary to the Governor.
