Abia State Launches Data-Driven Governance Initiative

The Abia State Government, led by Governor Alex Otti, is initiating a data-driven governance approach to improve service delivery. During a workshop held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, Otti urged stakeholders to participate in building a unified data architecture to track public service performance effectively.

He highlighted that accurate data is essential for resource allocation and improving the state's internal revenue and social protection systems. Otti warned against operating in silos and stressed that a harmonized identification framework is crucial for effective service delivery.

Dr. Emmanuel Meribeol, the Chief Budget Planner, emphasized the importance of integrating data architecture for efficient service delivery, stating that decisions should no longer be based on assumptions.

The workshop featured discussions on the need for a single source of data to enhance transparency and policy formulation, with contributions from various officials, including Engr Ikechukwu Emetu and Kingsley Anosik.
