Nigerian Activist Abiodun Aremu Killed in Tragic Accident, Sparks Mourning

Abiodun Aremu, a prominent Nigerian activist associated with various labor and civil society organizations, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Ogun State. Aremu, aged 65, was a former Secretary-General of the African Trade Union Unity and ex-Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

His sudden demise on October 12 led to an outpouring of grief from fellow activists like Shehu Sani, Omoyele Sowore, and Oladipupo Munirudeen. The activist's burial is scheduled to take place in Lagos.

Aremu's death has highlighted the risks faced by social advocates in Nigeria.
