Nigerian Activist Abiodun Aremu Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident, Labor Movement Mourns Loss

Abiodun Aremu, a prominent Nigerian activist and member of the Joint Action Front (JAF), was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Ota, Ogun State. The incident occurred on a Sunday evening when Aremu was struck by an unidentified driver while crossing the road.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after. Owei Lakemfa, a former Secretary-General of the NLC, described Aremu's death as a huge loss to the labor movement.

Aremu's burial is scheduled for October 23, 2025, with tributes pouring in for his contributions to worker rights and social justice in Nigeria.
