Ogun State Governor Abiodun Declares State 'Near El Dorado'

In an interview on Friday night, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun stated that the state has transformed significantly under his administration, describing it as "near El Dorado." He made this remark during the 2026 Progress Congress at the national convention in Abuja, emphasizing the state's economic growth and infrastructural development. Abiodun noted that Ogun has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the country, with the state's GDP increasing from four trillion to 17 trillion naira in just seven years.

He highlighted the strategic government investments that have driven this progress and the transformation across various sectors. Furthermore, he compared Ogun's current development level favorably against Lagos, acknowledging ongoing security concerns but expressing confidence in the efforts of security agencies to address these issues.

Abiodun also hinted at the broader political dynamics influencing development in the state, while assuring that the federal government is handling the situation effectively.
