Abuja Amateur Basketball Tournament Kicks Off July 20

The Abuja Amateur Basketball Tournament, organized by the FCT Basketball Caretaker Committee and the Amateur Basketball Association, is scheduled to begin on July 20, 2023. Prof.

D.C. Lucki Abubakar described the tournament as a journey to transform lives and reshape communities while elevating local talent to the global stage.

The competition will include participation from various academies within the Federal Capital Territory, focusing on identifying and nurturing untapped basketball talent. Abubakar emphasized the importance of grassroots programs and high-performance training systems to guide young athletes at every stage of their development.

The tournament aims to create opportunities for young players to compete, improve their skills, and gain valuable exposure, ultimately identifying future stars capable of representing Nigeria in international competitions. HRH Ez Ifeanyi Ek, chairman of the FCT Basketball Caretaker Committee, stressed the need for sustained investment and partnerships in grassroots basketball development to ensure long-term growth in the sport.
